I see all the time how, the UK or other European countries have carp fishing right at the top. Yet, the U.S doesn’t think of carp fishing popular at all. I’ve fished for every fish before, catfish, carp, bass, panfish, walleye. And carp are the hardest fighting of any of those, yet they don’t have any respect? They’re not nasty little things that just dirty up the water, they’re my favorite sport fish! At second i would put catfish. I just don’t like it, in bass fishing you’re continuously moving throwing a lure here and there and reeling, jigging, popping. I’d rather get some dough ball with 3 rods and lay them out while I’m enjoying myself. So, why isn’t carp fishing popular in the United States?

Just curious to know what everyone watching would have the Most confidence in, Understanding time of year/conditions, etc. etc. Put that aside for a second and Post your Confidence Bait in the comments box with a brief reason why, I choose a spinner bait to cover water fast, eliminating first if fish are wanting a horizontal presentation, never casting straight out in front of me UNLESS its an object, or some sort of structure that bass would congregate to.

Bass fishing at Bayfront Park in Hamilton, Ontario (01/07/2011) In this episode of Fishin’ Ontario’s South, we pitch wacky rigged Jak’s Custom Baits senkos rigged with the K&J Tackle Wacky RIG’R into heavy cover and boat docks. I manage to pull out 2 bass, both between 2-3lbs. The equipment used in this episode was the Shimano Sahara 3000FD and the 7′M Shimano Compre Spinning Rod. The line used was 8lb Seaguar InvizX 100% Fluorocarbon. A key to catching those fish was a good pair of polarized glasses because I was spotting fish roaming and feeding on baitfish. I use the Body Glove Floating and Vapor series sunglasses. If so what do you think of it?

I am thinking of getting one for bass fishing + inshore saltwater fishing.

I’m new to the bass fishing world, and I’m just concerned if I need to buy a seperate type of rod/reel for bass fishing (baitcaster), for I only have experience using a spinning set-up for bluegill fishing. Any advice?

i got this lake 5 minutes away from my house that is home to a lot of carp in the 30-40 pound range. lucky for me, not many people fish here because everyone thinks this lake is fishless.

anyway, i discovered they’re "hangout" today while i was bass fishing. i got a 6 foot rod, baitcast reel, and 20lb test Sufix brand line. i was too scared to go after them today after the park ranger said i needed a pole that’s used for surf fishing on the beach and 40lb test in order to catch them.

do i have a chance to catch them on my tackle? i just got this rod and reel combo for 100 bucks and i dont wanna brake anything.

I need to pick up 5 to 8 new reels for guests that come with me to stay at my weekend house in Guntersville, AL (great bass fishing, if you’ve never been). These reels will supplement any gear they may bring themselves, which is often minimal for a few of them, and will be used primarily for bass but may also be used for some bream/blue-gill fishing.

Right now, I’m looking at the Johnson Century 200BG, which Cabela has priced at right around each.

Has anyone ever used this model? What do you think of it? Recommendations for other close-faced reels?
I agree with baitcasters being the best bet for those that fish a good bit, but as mentioned, they do take a while to learn. As I now only take 6 to 8 trips a year myself, it is more difficult for me to fish with them but not too bad after the first day (we all love backlashes).

Those of my friends that have their own gear generally have baitcasters, but I need something for the infrequent fisherman – closed face is the way to go, at least from my experience. Although, I am open to ideas.
