Bass fishing at Bayfront Park in Hamilton, Ontario (01/07/2011) In this episode of Fishin’ Ontario’s South, we pitch wacky rigged Jak’s Custom Baits senkos rigged with the K&J Tackle Wacky RIG’R into heavy cover and boat docks. I manage to pull out 2 bass, both between 2-3lbs. The equipment used in this episode was the Shimano Sahara 3000FD and the 7′M Shimano Compre Spinning Rod. The line used was 8lb Seaguar InvizX 100% Fluorocarbon. A key to catching those fish was a good pair of polarized glasses because I was spotting fish roaming and feeding on baitfish. I use the Body Glove Floating and Vapor series sunglasses. Well, with the Carp now spawning on the lake I’m fishing its time for a change of angling. I headed down to the River Calder in search of it’s Trout and Grayling. The river was carrying just a little more water than normal summer levels but this didn’t affect the fishing. Fishing bead head nymphs was the method that was resulting in the most attention from the Trout in the faster runs. The Grayling on the other hand were proving hard to tempt on the dries. The takes I did receive on the dry fly from the Grayling were fast and were proving hard to hit, maybe all this Carp fishing I’ve been doing over the past few months has slowed me down.

I made another trip out to Lake Somerville State Park on Thursday and after completing my tasks for the day I hoofed it on down to the Yegua for a little fly fishing in the creek. The birds were especially vocal as they can be heard throughout the video. I didn’t catch anything of size fish-wise but I did catch some interesting shots on video. I hope you enjoy the video at least as much as I did making it.

A single lure can be years in the making, with many different prototypes and LOTS of revisions. We create saltwater fishing lures (mostly for trout and redfish), and each lure goes through some serious testing and feedback to get everything just right.
