striped bass fishing at crane beach in Ipswich has been like this last few mornings on the flats and Bill was living the dream by catching fish in 1 foot of water why bass where feeding on sand eels.
Well, with the Carp now spawning on the lake I’m fishing its time for a change of angling. I headed down to the River Calder in search of it’s Trout and Grayling. The river was carrying just a little more water than normal summer levels but this didn’t affect the fishing. Fishing bead head nymphs was the method that was resulting in the most attention from the Trout in the faster runs. The Grayling on the other hand were proving hard to tempt on the dries. The takes I did receive on the dry fly from the Grayling were fast and were proving hard to hit, maybe all this Carp fishing I’ve been doing over the past few months has slowed me down.
